The VA Medical Center is a major interdisciplinary teaching facility, serving medical, surgical, and neurological inpatients and outpatients. There is a large outpatient psychiatric population, with admissions for medical co-morbidities. GYN Health Clinical Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of cervical cancers screening, sexual transmitted infections (STI) screening, and other GYN and sexual health preventive care. This includes identificafion of patients in need of screening; ordering of tests; review and documentation of results; ordering and facilitation of follow up care; and provider/PACT and patient notification of test results and follow up care. The WH GYN Health Clinical Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that there are mechanisms in place that address the required VHA Directive, VISN and local policies and any related guidelines for facility compliance. The position will be supervised by the Service Chief, Women's Health/Women's Health Medical Director with collaborative with oversight by the Director of Nursing, Women's Health Women Veterans Program Manager The WH GYN Health Clinical Coordinator will identify knowledge deficits related to cervical cancer screening and provide education for WH Liaisons at the CBOCs to improve competencies. The additional support and coordination will enhance PACT care coordination thus mitigating the risk that patients will not receive gynecological follow-up care, and thus reduce EP.RP outliers as well as facilitate compliance with the VHA and OIG patient notification requirements. This position will also decrease the number of phone calls and requests for unscheduled appointments to the PACT teams, thus allowing PACT teams to open-up access and focus on requests for other acute care and chronic disease management. ¯ Monitoring the delivery of services, coordination of care, and tracking of cervical cancer outcomes. The WH GYN Health Clinical Coordinator will work closely with the WH-PACTs in Birmingham and Huntsville and collaborate with the designated Women's Health Providers (WHP) at other CBOCS and the Gynecologists. This includes: ¯ Assist the teams with coordinating subsequent care for women with abnormal cervical cancer screenings, procedures and follow up care within BVAHCS and those done through Community Care. ¯ Track and follow up on abnormal cervical cancer results and patient notification to ensure timely care ¯ Coordinate care with designated Women's Health Providers and GYN specialists ¯ Enhance PACT care coordination thus mitigating the risk that patients will not receive gynecological follow-up care, and thus reduce EPRP outliers as well as facilitate compliance with the VHA and OIG patient notification requirements. ¯ Perform monthly audits or more frequent observations to assure that completed work and methods used are technically accurate and in compliance with instructions or established procedures. ¯ Perform aUdits of PAPs done by designated women's health providers .. Perform PAP and pelvic exams (including backlog due to COVID) and provide STI nd contraceptive counseling and management ¯ Collaborate with dWHPs, PCPs, GYN, Pathology & Laboratory Medicine, and Gander Program Navigators. ¯ Identify knowledge deficits related to cervical cancer screening and provide education for WH Liaisons at the CBOCS to improve competencies. Assist with training PCPs on pelvic exams/PAPs and training refreshers for designated Women's Health Providers as needed ¯ Coordinate chlamydia, HIV, HPV, and PAP awareness and screening initiatives ¯ Utilize available and emerging technologies and tools to communicate with and provide behavioral modification strategies and reminders (e.g., Annie, VA Video Connect, MyHealtheVet, etc.). ¯ Provide cross coverage for the other Women's Health Clinical Coordinators as needed. ¯ Provide 2nd line clinical back-up for WHC clinic providers for gender-specific issues and assist with coverage of designated Women's Health Providers (dWHPs) for gender-specific issues care as needed. ¯ Other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing, Women's Health /Women Veterans Program Manager and/or Service Chief, Women's Health/Women's Health Medical Director support of WH/PG service operations and strategic goals.
