The float pool LPN supports the licensed healthcare team members in the provision of patient care to include direct patient care, providing healthcare information to patients/families, and following established plan of care. All patient care activities are undertaken with the delegation/supervision of a licensed professional in accordance with VUMC standards and licensure regulations.
Collaborates with patients/families and health care providers in the delivery of health care services.
Partners with preceptor and the healthcare team by following established plan of care to ensure patient progress for effective outcomes.
Support plans to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.
The responsibilities listed are a general overview of the position and additional duties may be assigned in preparation for the LPN role and within the GPN scope of practice.
The Children's Hospital Outpatient Clinic Float Pool at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt is a highly skilled team that provides focused care for pediatric patients in our outpatient clinic settings. A typical shift for our LPN-2 float staff includes working with a vast array of PEDIATRIC patient populations on campus and in offsite regional clinics. One shift may be in pediatric primary care, while the next shift could be in a specialty service, like peds general surgery, pediatric orthopedics, pediatric cardiology, and many others. Our float pool staff offer a diversity of experience and are always willing to share their knowledge and collaborate as a team member in all clinics. The CHOC FP LPN TEAM demonstrate a vital role during patient and family encounters and responsible for providing excellent care and a positive patient and family experience. Experience and continuous training provide us the specialized skills needed to care for a wide variety of pediatric patients.
