Job Summary

Responsible for the daily supervision and operations of an assigned unit, as well as clinical responsibility for the delivery of patient care. Serves as a role model for professional practice and directs patient flow activity to maintain consistency in patient care. Assists the Behavioral Health Manager in the appropriate utilization of material, financial and human resources in the assigned unit.
Job Duties
- Develops a daily plan for the provision of patient care in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team.
- Assures and provides patient care in accordance with all responsibilities contained in the registered nurse job description.
- Assesses the physiological, psychosocial and age-specific needs of patients throughout the shift.
- Communicates with multidisciplinary healthcare team in coordinating patient care and informs team members of changes in care.
- Ensures that clinical and technical aspects of care are delivered in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Assigns and delegates duties and patient assignments on the basis of skills and expertise of team member, acuity and specific needs of patient, and time availability of team members according to Department of Nursing policy.
- Holds staff accountable for assigned duties and responsibilities, as well as adherence to policies, procedures and professional practice.
- Provides clinical, consultative, technical or informational services as needed to staff, other disciplines, patients and or families.
- Assists manager in ensuring staffing to meet patient care needs within operational guidelines.
- Directs and alters assignments in response to changes in patient situations.
- Adjusts staffing as necessary to accommodate changes in census and acuity.
- Assesses staff competencies and identifies educational needs of same.
- Participates in coaching, counseling and mentoring of unit personnel.
- Enforces policies and procedures through disciplinary process.
- Participates in performance appraisal of team members.
- Assists in the interviewing and selection of unit employees in collaboration with the Manager.

Position Details
Shift: 7pm-7am; Every other weekend and holiday;
BSN and Psych certification preferred.

Education
Graduate from Specialty Training Program-Nursing (Required), Bachelor's Degree-Nursing (Preferred)
Experience
Minimum of 2 years-Related work experience (Preferred)
Certification(s) and License(s)
Basic Life Support Certification - Default Issuing Body; Licensed Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania) - RN_State of Pennsylvania
