The role you’ll contribute:
The Director of Nursing Informatics is a registered nurse who provides leadership for a comprehensive informatics program in the support and augmentation of the nursing process using technology. Dedicated to leading a team in providing a secure, effective, integrated patient care delivery system that continually improves outcomes, reduces cost, increases efficiency, and enhances patient experiences. Supports planning, design, development, education, implementation, and evaluation of technology tools throughout clinical practice areas in accordance with policy and best practices in order to accelerate the implementation of optimized patient care. Determines clinical functions that are suitable for computer application, serving as a liaison between Nursing and AIT. Oversees Manager responsibilities pertaining to department staff, workload, and resources. Holds overall accountability for providing leadership, direction, and administration of day-to-day operations associated with Nursing Informatics.
Develops policies and procedures pertaining to use of clinical information systems. Serves as a change agent, identifying barriers to change and managing resolutions. Has a high level of integrity and works diligently to exceed all expectations. Ability to communicate with all levels of hospital leadership, clinicians, physicians, and ancillary department staff is essential for this position. Utilizes the hospital performance improvement process and actively participates in providing outstanding customer service, maintaining relationships that are equally respectfully to all.

- Responsible for assigned Nursing Informatics region, the managers, and advocates.
- Defines and prioritizes departmental goals setting timelines for completion, providing guidance, coordinating training, and promoting personal and professional development.
- Develops high quality materials to communicate with all levels of the organization related to opportunities, return on investment, outcomes, and future strategy.
- Provides a leadership role in defining and communicating best practice of clinical information system use by AdventHealth clinicians and non-direct care staff.
- Develops department culture, promoting transparency and collaboration.
- Manages teams to ensure agile and responsive 24/7 year round support within defined Service Level Agreement.
- Stays abreast of legislation that impacts healthcare, particularly related to the electronic medical record and technology used in care delivery.
- Develops and maintains policies to align with best practices, accreditation, and regulatory standards.
- Participates in budget development and monitoring of expenses.
- Makes periodic operations adjustments in order to achieve budgetary objectives and recommends adjustments to meet substantial operational changes.
- Develops routine interactions with operational leadership to ascertain the needs of clinical staff. Creates work priorities based on identified needs.
- Coordinates the development, implementation, education, evaluation, and maintenance of technology applications and projects utilized by nursing. Serves as a liaison between executive leaders, nursing, and AIT. Makes sure all solutions are consistent with the nursing/clinical process.
- Coordinates structured training and support for new applications or upgrades, in collaboration with operational leaders, end users, and AIT.
- Works collaboratively to identify barriers and resistance to change and coordinates their resolution.
- Responsible for developing strategic clinical informatics plans and serves as a champion for complex clinical projects and systems that support efficiency and effectiveness for end users, with the primary goal of advancing evidence-based practice.
- Collaborates in developing enterprise-wide initiatives relative to the organization’s strategy, reflecting an awareness of external dynamics.
- Maintains a current knowledge of trends and issues in health care, organizational policies and procedures, nursing information applications and their relationship to other clinical or organizational information systems, facilitating technology solutions to support AdventHealth’s goal to be a global pacesetter delivering preeminent, faith-based care.
QualificationsThe expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
- Master of Science in Nursing or Healthcare Informatics either upon hire/promotion or within 36 months of hire/promotion
- Minimum of five years nursing clinical background
- Minimum of five years’ experience in clinical informatics healthcare informatics, nursing informatics or equivalent role with progressive responsibilities for leadership.
- Three years Management or supervisor experience
- Current valid license as a registered professional nurse in state of primary work locale
- Current valid driver’s license in state of primary work locale
- Completion of one professional certification relevant to field (ex. ANCC Informatics, CAHIMS, CPHIMS) within three years and maintenance of certification thereafter
- Completion of CLN102 certification within three years and maintenance of certification thereafter if applicable.
