A recruitment/relocation incentive is not authorized. A Full-Time (1.0 FTE) Hematology/Oncology Registered Nurse position is available within the Acute Nursing Outpatient Division at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center. Unit provides treatments for both chronic and acute care patients. Work Schedule: M-F between the hours of 0730-1600, 0800-1630 and 0830-1700. 80 hours per two week pay period. The Outpatient Hematology/Oncology Registered Nurse is skilled in utilizing the nursing process to assess, diagnose, treat, and evaluate actual or potential problems that may arise as a result of chemotherapy administration, diagnostic procedures, oncological/hematological emergencies, or oncological/hematological diagnoses requiring treatment or evaluation. The role of the Registered Nurse in this practice setting includes direct patient care, integration of research into practice, patient/family/staff education consultation, inter-professional collaboration, and pain management. The RN in this position must have a basic understanding of the pathophysiology of oncological and hematological disease processes and treatment; knowledge of chemotherapy/biotherapy agents and anesthetic/analgesic agents. Principle duties and responsibilities include: Patient assessments, patient teaching, assist with care coordination between services, Triage phone calls Access venous devises, collect labs/specimens, administer IVF's, blood products Administer Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Perform/assist with wound care, blood glucose testing, injections Cross training to Hematology Oncology symptom management clinic Preferred Qualifications: BSN preferred 3-4 years of successful oncology nursing experience ONC Certification preferred ONS Chemo provider card within 6 months of hire Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to handle multiple and complex tasks to completion BLS Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
