This position is located at the Grand Junction Department of Veterans Affairs hospital, in the Patient Care Services Extended Care department. The incumbent is required to perform patient care duties under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). They will provide patient care, which is appropriate to the genitive, emotional, spiritual, chronological, recreational, and diversional activities of the patient. Major duties include but are not limited to: 1. Provision of Care: Performing duties such as providing practical nursing care to patients with physical and/or behavioral problems. 2. Medication Administration: Duties such as preparing and administering commonly prescribed oral, topical, subcutaneous, and intra-muscular medications and other routes as approved by hospital and federal policy and procedures. 3. Communication and Documentation: Duties such as reporting and documenting pertinent observations, care provided and response to care, patient/family education in the electronic medical record and appropriate treatment sheets according to policy and procedure. 4. Safety: Adhering to all safety policies and practices. 5. Customer Service: Such as communicating and treating customers (Veterans, their representatives, visitors, and all VA staff) in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner. 6.
