The Albany Stratton VAMC is recruiting for one (1) full-time RN Nurse Recruiter. The Nurse Recruiter adheres to established policies, standards of care and standards or practice, demonstrates leadership in developing programs which will improve the delivery of nursing care, has substantial and continuous responsibility and accountability for the ongoing management of the nursing recruitment and retention program. The Nurse Recruiter functions within a nursing process framework for problem-solving and care facilitation: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.. This RN is expected to perform data collection and analysis for the purpose of improving care to patient groups, maximizing utilization of resources and enhancing the recruitment program. He/She performs outreach and marketing to local nursing schools as well as marketing at job fairs as part of recruitment efforts. He/She is responsible for He/She will have collateral duties as assigned including acting as the Staffing Methodology Coordinator to assist unit-based expert panels and nurse managers in the development of safe staffing per Veterans Health Administration directive. He/she is responsible for entering position requests when positions to the Associate Director for Patient Care Services for presentation at formal facility position management committee. He/She is responsible for entering MSS requests, creating and submitting functional statements through the approval process when necessary, tracking applicants through the hiring process and working closely with HR specialist and VetPro coordinator and the Nurse Professional Standards Board during hiring and onboarding process including submitting final board actions. He/she is responsible for reviewing benefit packages with candidates as well as promotional opportunities within nursing and for screening applicants received by HR including reviewing qualifications for the position in which they are applying, and assisting the nurse managers in conducting setting up and conducting interviews. He/she will remain supportive to the nurse managers and the candidates throughout the hiring, onboarding process. He/she is responsible for staffing coordination efforts through use of staffing software/staffing coordination process in collaboration by nurse manager. He/she is also responsible for preparing overtime reports, and routinely tracks/trends and provides reports on vacancy rates, turnover rates to the Associate Director, Patient Care Services. He/She will work closely with compensation unit to provide necessary data including declination for hire due to salary, turnover rates, etc. to prepare reports for special salary adjustments, adjustments to pay scales, etc. He/she is also responsible for retention efforts and activities of employee engagement such activities involving All Employee Survey, National Nurses Week, Nursing Newsletter, etc. He/she is responsible for all other duties as assigned and reports directly to the Associate Director, Patient Care Services /Chief Nurse Executive.
