There are full time and part time vacancies. In all positions you will be responsible for direct patient care activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). These positions are located in Specialty Medicine Duties of this position may include, but are not limited to, the following: Delivers safe, basic physical and emotional care to patients with simple needs while developing technical skills. Maintain clinic flow by completing clinic intake including obtaining, recording and reporting vital signs Assist with minor procedures and treatments Perform oxygen therapy, immunization and medication instrumentation, finger stick blood glucose test. Positions patients using principles of body mechanics in lifting, alignment, turning, ambulation, transferring and repositioning patients with the use of proper equipment. Sets up and administers oxygen therapy. Promotes skin healing through the use of a) wound irrigation/packing, b) dressing changes, c) stoma care, d) gastrostomy care, e) application of ostomy appliances, f) application of topical medication, g) routine tracheostomy care, h) routine oral and tracheostomy suctioning. Offers physiological, psychological and spiritual comfort to the dying patient, his/her family and/or significant others. Documents and reports patient responses according to hospital policy. Administers medications in accordance with VAMC Policy and Procedures. Recognizes, reports and assists in emergent and non/emergent situations. Complete additional competency training to include: downloading glucose meter or insulin pump, continuous glucose monitor insertion, Ziot Patch, EKG, venipuncture, PVR bladder scan.
