The Nursing Assistant fulfills basic quality-of-life needs for patients of any age, ethnicity or gender at the Philadelphia Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center and its outlying Community Based Outpatient Clinics. This work involves a variety of personal care, nursing care, or related procedures such as supporting diagnostic procedures, technical nursing treatments, patient charting and patient teaching. Duties and or responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Assist doctors and nurses in the care and treatment of the ill receiving medical, surgical, psychiatric, or outpatient treatment Provides care and services to multiple populations served and admitted to the nursing unit, clinic, area of assignment as determined by the patient/resident need for nursing care and services. Provides care of patients/residents and their environment contributing to optimizing patient/resident outcomes as a member of the multi-disciplinary healthcare team. Provides direct patient/resident care in the provision of the psychological, physical, social and cultural activities of daily living, complete and supportive. Provides for the care of patients/residents with dignity and continuous consideration of the individuals emotional needs. Provides reporting, communication and documentation in the computerized patient record system with other members of the multi-disciplinary healthcare team. Maintains BCLS, and currency in required education and training as identified by regulating agencies. Demonstrates competency and consistency in the technical use of equipment, application of technical standards and performance of administrative support duties. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Inpatient Behavioral Health experience preferred. At least one year nursing assistant experience preferred. Basic Life (BLS) certification required. Work Schedule: Sunday through Saturday: 8 Hour Shifts With Rotating Weekends & Holidays. (Actual Shift Will Be Determined During Interview). Financial Disclosure Report: Not required.
