The Evening/Night Shift Nursing Supervisor positions are located at the Syracuse VA Medical Center in Syracuse, New York. The Evening/Night Nurse on Duty (NOD) supervises and coordinates nursing care provided on irregular tours. He/she ensures proper staffing coverage to provide the highest quality nursing care. He/she independently assigns and reassigns work. Conducts patient care rounds for the purpose of assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care needs. -Identifies and resolves problems that arise with patients, family, nursing staff and other personnel. -Implements and demonstrates responsible leadership and creative approaches in problem-solving for all staff and veterans. -Evaluates, rewards, or disciplines nursing service employees; addresses employee grievances; grants time off the job; effectively reports problems of the preceding tour to the oncoming supervisory team. -Provides regular and periodic briefings to nursing leadership/ management team and provides supervisory/management coverage and support during emergency situations occurring on the evening/night tours of duty.
