Overview The University of Minnesota Medical Center represents an integrated academic health care system and is comprised of two hospitals and dozens of adult specialty clinics on both the East and West banks of the University of Minnesota campus in Minneapolis. It is the flagship facility of Fairview providing breakthrough medicine and transforming the health of our community. This position is responsible for assisting the professional nurse in the delivery of patient care, transporting patient and / or equipment, setting up and maintaining patient rooms, reordering and stocking supplies. The nursing assistant does not work autonomously but under the direction of a professional nurse. He / she may or may not be given a patient care assignment based unit needs and the discretion of the manager / charge nurse. Physical Demands: Standing, walking, lifting above shoulder 32 lbs, lifting waist level 45 lbs, lifting below knee 40 lbs, carry waist level, balance, pushing, hearing, repetitive actions, speaking, seeing/visual. Mental Demands: Frequent people contact, irregular work schedule, frequent interruptions, decision making skills, concentration, ability to work independently, multitasking, organizational skills, working with others and frequent deadlines.
