Nurse Coordinator

The Nurse Coordinator has direct responsibility for the daily operations of the assigned department of CV and IR Lab at Ridges. The responsibilities include the direct supervision of employees and for providing the safe and effective delivery of patient care including the planning, organizing and managing of most effective and safe care of patients. As a Nurse Coordinator this role provides primarily direct patient care with come supervision/educational accountabilities.

This position is 80 hours per 2 weeks, day shift, no weekends, no on-call and is eligible for full benefits.

Daily supervision of staff and participates in day-to-day operations of assigned department

• With Nurse Manager and staff, recommends and assists with formulation of staffing policies and procedures and coordinates them with Fairviews policies
• Assists with the staffing needs as evidenced by budgetary analysis and/or department indicators on an ongoing basis, providing an appropriate number, mix and selection of competent staff.
• Promotes open and effective lines of communication within the department and with other Fairview departments.
• Coordinate workload of inpatient and outpatients. Provide daily assignments, reviewing daily patient care requirements.
• Evaluates care and leads members of the assigned team in finding ways to improve patient safety and delivery of care.
• Ensures staff are compliant and have knowledge of Joint Commission standards as assigned.
• Delivers safe and high quality patient care
• Has basic information of all patients on unit/dept through shift
• Consistently leads staff in following unit/dept /hospital policies and procedures and standards of care
• Accesses appropriate resources to address clinical, ethical, legal and practice considerations in order to assure quality care.
• Addresses patient complaints and concerns at time of occurrence and follows up as appropriate.
• Has knowledge/expertise of patient population on unit/dept
• Leads members of the assigned team in addressing issues as they occur.
• Works in procedure rooms, covers charge role or supports charge person.

Provides Work Direction to CV Lab or IR Lab Staff :

• Assigns patients to and directs work of staff
• Clearly communicates expectations to staff
• Assigns and monitors delivery of patient care and re-directs staff resources based on demands and needs of department
• Solves work direction issues at the time of occurrence and provides information to manager as appropriate
• Assists with direct patient care
• Oversees organization, flow and coordination of all aspects of patient care
• Communicates professionally and coordinates effectively with other health professionals and departments
• Prioritizes emergent/urgent and routine activities
• Utilizes patient focused care principles when making any decision regarding patient care.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing
• MN RN License
• ACLS
• 2 years work experience in CV or IR lab
